For the past few months, we’ve really been struggling to meet our concept art deadline. :^) And at a point of ultimate burnout, Protospiel… gave us life inside. Protospiel 2017 was super fun and educational! We gathered good feedback from players and industry professionals alike. People were impressed by our first effort, and we gave David Silverman honorable mentions for mentoring us. Without the support of our mentor and our classmates, our positive turnout would not have been possible! Protospiel helped us meet encouraging, helpful, and talented new friends. By the time the event ended, our game had totally transformed!! Wow!!!!!! SUGOI!!! The playtests highlighted Savant Nouveau’s main mechanics issues:
Overall, gamers really enjoyed the IP, the artwork, and the game foundation. The game was easy to pick up, and on average, the game received a rating of 7.5/10 out of 37+ players. 29/37 people said they would buy the game in its current state, 5 people are on the fence, and 3 would not. The general consensus states that the game’s length is fine, although developers believe that it can be further streamlined. Industry loved the artwork, presentation, and really enjoyed us as people. They were impressed that 7 game developers had such great synergy, and were moreover floored that we are an all-girl team. However, they were brutally honest with how imbalanced the mechanics are, but reassured us that more development can help this game shine. Our current goal is to reduce the “deck-searching” aspect of the game and make down time more interesting. Boop de boop, until next time!
